CHICAGO (670 The Score) —Bears quarterback Justin Fields was officially ruled out of his team's game against the Panthers on Thursday night, a day after the team slightly left open the possibility that he could play.
Fields wasn't medically cleared to return as he continues to work back from a dislocated right thumb, which suffered during a game on Oct. 15. The Bears had listed Fields as doubtful to play, though head coach Matt Eberflus said Wednesday that he wouldn't start.
Undrafted rookie quarterback Tyson Bagent will make his fourth straight start in place of Fields.
Bagent has completed 67.3% of his passes for 697 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions in four games.
The Bears' other inactives are linebacker Tremaine Edmunds (knee), right guard Nate Davis (ankle), fullback Khari Blasingame (concussion), cornerback Terell Smith (mono), receiver Velus Jones Jr. and pass rusher Dominique Robinson.
The Bears (2-7) and Panthers (1-7) kick off at 7:15 p.m. CT from Soldier Field.
