LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- Bears running back David Montgomery returned to practice Thursday for the first time since suffering a right ankle injury in a game on Sept. 25.
Montgomery was listed as limited participant in practice Thursday. Montgomery has rushed 35 times for 159 yards in parts of three games this season. Without Montgomery, the Bears have leaned on second-year running back Khalil Herbert, who has carried 52 times for 317 yards and three touchdowns this season.
Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson (quad), safety Dane Cruikshank (hamstring) and linebacker Sterling Weatherford (illness) didn’t practice Thursday. Johnson has missed the past two games with his injury. The Bears’ challenge of defending Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson will be even more difficult if Johnson is out again.
Bears defensive lineman Justin Jones (hip) and tight end Ryan Griffin (Achilles) were limited participants Thursday, while linebacker Matt Adams (hamstring) and cornerback Jaylon Jones (illness) were full participants.
The Bears (2-2) and Vikings (3-1) kick off at noon CT on Sunday from U.S. Bank Stadium.
