Bears rule out Justin Fields, Akiem Hicks for game against Lions


(670 The Score) The Bears have ruled out quarterback Justin Fields (ribs) and defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (ankle) for their game at the Detroit Lions on Thursday.

Fields suffered the ribs injury during in a loss to the Ravens on Sunday at Soldier Field. The Bears on Tuesday named veteran Andy Dalton their starter at quarterback. Reserve Nick Foles will be the backup with Fields inactive.

Hicks will miss his second straight game after suffering an ankle injury in a loss at Pittsburgh on Nov. 8. He has one sack on the season.

The Bears also listed receiver Allen Robinson (hamstring) as doubtful. Safety Eddie Jackson (hamstring), defensive lineman Mario Edwards (ribs), receiver Marquise Goodwin (shoulder) and safety Tashaun Gipson (chest) are questionable to play. Running back Damien Williams (calf) was ruled out.

The Bears flexed receiver Isaiah Coulter and linebacker Sam Kamara to the active roster in corresponding moves.

The Bears (3-7) and Lions (0-9-1) kick off at 11:30 a.m. CT on Thursday from Ford Field.
