Bears select Southern Utah OT Braxton Jones, Miami (Ohio) edge Dominique Robinson in 5th round

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- After stockpiling picks in the later rounds on the third day of the NFL Draft with trades back, the Bears on Saturday selected Southern Utah offensive tackle Braxton Jones and Miami (Ohio) edge rusher Dominique Robinson in the fifth round.

The No. 168 overall selection, Jones was a first-team all-Big Sky selection at Southern Utah in 2021 and started at tackle in each of the last two seasons. In Jones, the Bears are bringing in competition at tackle for second-year incumbent starters Larry Borom and Teven Jenkins.

Robinson was chosen with the No. 174 overall pick. He was a converted wide receiver who became a standout pass rusher at Miami (Ohio), recording 4.5 sacks for the Redhawks last season. He projects as a rotational defensive end for Chicago.

The Bears have five picks remaining Saturday after making four separate trades. Their next selection comes with the 186th overall pick in the fifth round.

The Bears selected Washington cornerback Kyler Gordon, Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker and Tennessee receiver Velus Jones on Friday.
