LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- The Bears opened up training camp at Halas Hall on Wednesday without several key players on the field.

Safety Eddie Jackson (hamstring), rookie offensive tackle Teven Jenkins (back tightness) and offensive tackle Germain Ifedi (hip flexor) were held out of practice. Linebacker Robert Quinn (back) and defensive lineman Bilal Nichols (toe) were limited in their work.

Later in the afternoon, the Bears placed Jackson on the non-football injury list and Ifedi on the physically-unable-to-perform list. The non-football injury list is for those who suffered injuries outside of games or practices.

Bears coach Matt Nagy indicated he's "not overly concerned" with Jackson's hamstring issue. None of the injuries are considered serious, Nagy added.

Quinn has been dealing with his back ailment since veteran minicamp in June. He'll be participating in practice, but the Bears are holding him back from full-speed work until they deem him ready, Nagy said.

The Bears held a light workout Wednesday afternoon in Lake Forest. The team will conduct its first full practice Thursday morning, one that will be held before approximately 1,000 fans at Halas Hall.

Note: Bears tight end Jake Butt was placed on the reserve/retired list Wednesday. He had signed with Chicago in the offseason. The Bears recently signed Jesse James to add more tight end depth.
