Bears WR Darnell Mooney cleared for start of training camp

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney will be present with his team on Wednesday for the first practice of training camp.

Mooney has been medically cleared after an offseason recovery from a fractured fibula suffered late last November. He did not participate during the offseason program but was with the Bears at Halas Hall.

The Bears will work Mooney through a gradual ramp-up period during the early portion of training camp.

"He has worked his butt off with the training staff,” Bears general manager Ryan Poles said.

Mooney had 40 receptions for 493 yards and two touchdowns over 12 games last season. He produced a career-best 80 catches for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns in 2021.

The Bears activated wide receiver Chase Claypool from the physically-unable-to-perform list on Monday, this one day after he was designated to that list.

Claypool has been medically cleared from an undisclosed injury and is expected to be participating with the Bears for the start of training camp, Poles said.

The Bears do not anticipate any other players will be limited for the start of training camp.
