Bears coach Ben Johnson holds high respect for Chiefs coach Andy Reid: 'The GOAT in this league right now'

(670 The Score) Bears head coach Ben Johnson has earned the reputation as one of the brightest offensive-oriented minds in the NFL, but nobody is held in higher regard for offensive innovation than Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

On Friday evening in Kansas City, the Bears and Chiefs will square off in their preseason finale. While Johnson and Reid likely won’t show their hands much offensively, Johnson holds him in high regard.

“What I love about him is he's done it for a long time,” Johnson said. “So you can go back to Philly and early on in Philly it was West Coast offense really at its core. And now when you look at the offense, it's evolved so much. And so I think he does what all the good coaches do and they continue to push the limits a little bit and find out what their guys do well. I think he's really been the epitome of that. He's done a great job of whoever his quarterback is, he's going to find a way to have success on offense. You can tell the players love playing for him. He's authentic, he's true to himself.

“We have a number of guys in the building here that were at Kansas City at some point, and I mean I just love picking their brains because he's like the GOAT right now in this league. He's the one that, I'm at the owners meetings and you get a bunch of the head coaches together, they kind of like, they part the Red Sea for him and he walks on up in such high regard.”

Reid, 67, is a three-time Super Bowl champion who has been with the Chiefs since 2013. Bears general manager Ryan Poles out of Kansas City in January 2022.

Johnson, 39, is entering his first year as the Bears’ new head coach.

The Bears and Chiefs will kick off at 7:20 p.m. CT on Friday from Kansas City.
