(670 The Score) The Jets have granted edge rusher Haason Reddick, who has been holding out all season, permission to seek a trade, according to multiple reports.
On the Bernstein & Harris Show on Tuesday, that quickly raised a question. Should the Bears pursue Reddick on the trade market?
“You put that guy opposite Montez Sweat, how you looking?" Marshall Harris asked.
"Dangerous," Dan Bernstein responded.
Fresh off drubbing the Jaguars in London, the Bears have entered their bye at 4-2 with a stout defense that’s among the NFL’s best. While their defensive line has played well, the Bears still lack an elite pass rusher opposite of Pro Bowl defensive end Montez Sweat.
Reddick has been one of the most productive pass rushers in the NFL for years. He has compiled 11 or more sacks in each of the past four years, over which he has totaled 50.5 sacks. Haason earned Pro Bowl honors in 2022 and 2023.
The Jets acquired Haason from the Eagles in a trade in late March, but Haason never reported for offseason work as he has been seeking a multi-year contract extension that will pay him among the best in the game at his position. Haason is currently in the final season of his contract.
In addition to the price the Jets will demand in a trade, another concern for the Bears or any team interested in Haason is whether he’s worth another big contract at age 30.
