LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — The Bears are expected to interview former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel this week for their head coach vacancy.
Vrabel is considered one of the most coveted candidates available in this coaching cycle and will likely draw interest from multiple franchises. Bears defensive end DeMarcus Walker, who played for Vrabel and the Titans in 2022, believes he'd be an excellent fit in Chicago.
“I tell you what, a lot of bullshit is going to get cut out,” Walker said. “I’m sorry, but that’s the truth, though. I feel like discipline will be laid right down from the first day. A lot of those small things that we have done and gotten away with, that won’t happen. That’s just from my personal experience.”
Vrabel was fired by the Titans following the 2023 season. He was 54-45 (.54 winning percentage) over six seasons in Tennessee, leading the franchise to three consecutive playoff berths and an AFC Championship Game appearance in January 2020.
Vrabel was named AP Coach of the Year in 2021. He was a consultant on the Browns' coaching staff this season.
The Bears are expected to conduct a wide-ranging search for their next head coach. Given that Vrabel isn't presently employed by a team, he's permitted to interview with teams immediately.
Vrabel interviewed with the Jets for their head coach position last week. He's expected to be considered for the Patriots’ job as well.
