DJ Moore on Caleb Williams' rookie season: 'He just stayed true to himself and went out there and was a baller'

(670 The Score) Bears receiver DJ Moore was proud of quarterback Caleb Williams’ performance and demeanor amid his adversity-filled rookie season.

The Bears promised to create stability around the 23-year-old Williams after selecting him at No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft in late April, only to then fire offensive coordinator Shane Waldron on Nov. 12 and head coach Matt Eberflus on Nov. 29 while eventually finishing 5-12. Williams had to run for his life for much of the time, as he was sacked 68 times, the third-most of any quarterback in NFL history.

"He came a long way,” Moore said of Williams' rookie season. “He had a lot of things going on this year, good and bad. He just stayed true to himself and went out there and was a baller."

Williams completed 62.5% of his passes for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns and six interceptions while starting all 17 games. His 87.8 passer rating ranked 25th in the NFL among quarterbacks who attempted at least 100 passes in the 2024 season. His 46.7 QBR ranked 28th among qualifying quarterbacks.
