(670 The Score) New Bears head coach Ben Johnson has never previously worked alongside running backs coach Eric Bieniemy, but he has a good idea of what to expect from him.
Speaking Tuesday morning at the NFL owners meetings in Florida, Johnson didn’t mince words when describing the demanding style that Bieniemy will bring to his unit.
"He's going to coach the piss out of these running backs now,” Johnson told reporters. “That's what he does. Everybody that texted me after we hired him, I had probably half a dozen people that have worked with him in the past and they said, you just hired the best running backs coach in the NFL."
Bieniemy’s 10-year tenure with the Chiefs from 2013-'22 overlapped for nine years alongside current Bears general manager Ryan Poles, who worked in Kansas City's front office from 2009-'21.
The 55-year-old Bieniemy was UCLA’s offensive coordinator in 2024. He was the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator from 2018-’22 before taking the same position with the Commanders in 2023.
Hired by the Bears in January, Johnson announced his full coaching staff in February.
