(Audacy) It’s getting late early for the Bears, who dropped to 0-3 with a 41-10 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. The Bears’ on-field problems are only the tip of the iceberg though, as head coach Matt Eberflus and general manager Ryan Poles are under the microscope after another lackluster start to the season.

On the Audacy original podcast Take The North, 670 The Score morning host David Haugh discussed the sense he has about the Bears' future.

“It feels like the Bears and this regime are closer to the end than the beginning, and they’re 20 games into this regime,” Haugh said (4:12 in player above). “I’m not trying to be a ‘notice me’ guy – and I don’t think I’ve ever been that way – and I’m not trying to be somebody who’s calling for somebody’s job because I haven’t done that either.

“But I have been in Chicago long enough to know where things tend to go once they start headed in a certain direction, and the Bears feel like Sunday may have been crossing the point of no return.”

Haugh used former Bears coach Marc Trestman’s wild decision to kick a field goal on second down back in 2014 as a point of comparison. After that questionable call, the confidence in Trestman waned.

The current Bears regime may have just had their moment of no return.

“This feels like the Kansas City week of preparation and the way that they were blown out,” Haugh continued. “I don’t know how Matt Eberflus the head coach, in terms of credibility, recovers from this. And I think he’s on the verge of bringing Ryan Poles the general manager down with him.”

The Bears are 3-17 since Poles and Eberflus took over in their roles in January 2022.
