(670 The Score) Bears safety Jaquan Brisker has suffered a concussion in each of his three NFL seasons.
The worst one came last season, when Brisker suffered a concussion during a game in early October. He entered the NFL’s concussion protocol and didn't return to action for the rest of the season, playing just five games in 2024.
Amid his health challenges, the 26-year-old Brisker hasn't considered retirement and doesn't plan to change his playing style, he told reporters Wednesday at Halas Hall. Brisker isn’t focused on his concussion history.
“No, I’m not,” he said. “I’m not. I’m good. I’m past that point. I’m really moving on. I’m just focused on playing ball.
“I’m going to continue to play the same way.”
A second-round pick of the Bears in 2022, Brisker has played in 35 games over three seasons. He played in 15 games in each of his first two seasons – with concussions keeping him out a couple games each year – before playing five contests in 2024.
Brisker explained that he was feeling “off” while in the concussion protocol in 2024, which is part of why he wasn't cleared to return. He visited with a doctor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to stimulate his nervous system as part of the recovery plan.
Brisker is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025. He’s hoping that his health struggles are all in the past.
“It was hard being away from football,” Brisker said. “Especially week to week, it was kind of being sad and depressing, things like that. But I got over it. It’s time to move on. I’m back now.”
