Bears rookie receiver Luther Burden III leaves practice with a potential injury

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Bears rookie receiver Luther Burden III left practice Saturday at Halas Hall after a potential injury to his midsection.

Burden hauled in a deep pass down the sideline toward the end of the Bears’ second practice of rookie minicamp while landing awkwardly on his side. It wasn't immediately clear whether he felt discomfort or suffered an injury.

Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle declined to comment on Burden’s status, deferring injury updates to head coach Ben Johnson. The team didn't make Johnson available for comment Saturday.

Selected with the No. 39 overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft, Burden was a two-time All-SEC receiver at Missouri. He was projected by many to be a first-round pick in the draft and took exception to falling into the second round.

“That’s staying with me forever,” Burden said Friday. “Everybody who passed on me is going to pay.”

The Bears will hold one more practice for rookie minicamp Sunday at Halas Hall. Johnson isn't scheduled to speak with reporters.
