Bears hire Chris Rumph as defensive line coach

The Bears lost defensive line coach Jay Rodgers, who's expected to join the Chargers.

(670 The Score) The Bears have hired Chris Rumph as their new defensive line coach, the team announced Thursday.

Rumph was the Texans' outside linebackers coach in 2020. He joined Houston's staff after working as the University of Tennessee's co-defensive coordinator. Rumph has primarily worked in the college ranks.

The Bears had a vacancy at defensive line coach after losing Jay Rodgers, who had been an assistant in Chicago for the past six years. He's expected to join the Chargers' new coaching staff.

The Bears are also expected to lose inside linebackers coach Mark DeLeone to the Lions, ESPN reported Wednesday. Chicago has lost five assistant coaches to other teams this offseason.
