(670 The Score) After a string of games against lowly competition, the Bears will face a great challenge Sunday.
The Bears (4-2) will visit the Commanders (5-2) on Sunday afternoon. While Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels’ uncertain health could take away a bit of the intrigue if he can’t play, the game nonetheless carries stakes in the NFC playoff race. The winner of the game will be in a strong position nearly halfway through the regular season, while the loser will take a hit in the standings and also won’t hold what could later be a crucial tiebreaker.
With that in mind, Matt Spiegel and Laurence Holmes discussed the stakes and the feel entering Sunday.
“The Commanders and the Bears are formidable NFC teams, and this feels like a big one,” Spiegel said. “It feels like it’s got ‘game of consequence’ written on it and not just ‘maybe this is the game we find out if the quarterback is for real’ or ‘maybe this is the game where we find out if the coach is any good.’ This feels like legit, ‘Hey, this one will probably matter in the NFC standings at the end of the year.’ It’s been a long time since we felt that.”
