(670 The Score) In a surprise move, the Seattle Kraken selected forward John Quennville from the Blackhawks in the expansion draft Wednesday, the Athletic Chicago reported.

Quenneville, 25, didn’t record a point in nine games for Chicago last season and had just one goal in 16 games for the Rockford Icehogs at the AHL level. He was also set to be a free agent and wasn't expected to be in the Blackhawks' picture next season. In one sense, his selection was helpful for the Blackhawks in that they didn't lose a key player, but they have a series of roster decisions to make and will still have to part ways with some others.

Quenneville’s selection was a nod to the expansion Kraken not liking anyone the Blackhawks left exposed at their current price tags and also Seattle’s desire to have salary cap space.
