(670 The Score) The Cubs on Tuesday officially announced new manager Craig Counsell's coaching staff for the 2024 season.
Ten Cubs coaches will return to their same roles from the 2023 season, including pitching coach Tommy Hottovy and hitting coach Dustin Kelly. The most notable change beyond manager is at bench coach, as Ryan Flaherty will be Counsell's right-hand man. Flaherty worked for the Padres for the past four seasons, including as their bench coach in 2023.
Also new to their roles with the Cubs are bullpen coach Darren Holmes, major league field coordinator Mark Strittmatter and assistant hitting coach John Mallee.
Hottovy will return for his sixth season in his current pitching coach role and his 10th year with the organization. Kelly is back for his second season as the team's hitting coach.
Others returning to their roles are third-base coach Willie Harris, first-base coach Mike Napoli, assistant pitching coach Daniel Moskos, assistant hitting coach Juan Cabreja, assistant hitting coach Jim Adduci, major league coach Jonathan Mota, major league coach Alex Smith and bullpen catcher Garrett Lloyd.
