(670 The Score) Cubs first baseman Frank Schwindel has been honored for his red-hot hitting.
Schwindel has been named the National League Player of the Week, MLB announced Tuesday. Schwindel hit .462 with five homers, 12 RBIs and a 1.538 OPS in six games between Aug. 30 and Sunday.

Schwindel’s heroics included a game-winning RBI single in a 7-6 win against the Pirates on Saturday and a go-ahead grand slam in an 11-8 victory against them Sunday.
For good measure, Schwindel started this new week in style as well, with his tiebreaking RBI single helping lift the Cubs to a 4-3 win against the Reds on Monday.
Claimed by the Cubs off waivers from the Athletics in July, Schwindel is hitting .374 with 10 homers, 30 RBIs and a 1.120 OPS in 33 games with Chicago.
