(670 The Score) Cubs pitching coach Tommy Hottovy loves ace Marcus Stroman not just for his performance on the mound but also because of the standard he has set for others on the team’s staff with his habits.
Amid a brilliant season in which he’s 6-4 with a 2.39 ERA and National League-leading 1.00 WHIP, Stroman has led with his work ethic, Hottovy said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Wednesday morning.
“It’s been phenomenal to see. For a team, when you go through stretches like I feel like we’ve gone through, the one big thing you search for is consistency. And he’s been the epitome of consistency this year, not just in the way he performed but the way he has gone about his business, the way he does his work, the way he comes to the park every day and knows what he’s doing to do and knows what he’s going to work on.”
