Jon Lester is buying beers for Chicago this weekend

Lester will cover the tab for fans' first Miller Lite at four bars.

(670 The Score) Jon Lester is buying beers for Chicago this weekend.

As a show of appreciation for the city after six years with the Cubs, Lester tweeted that he'll buy the first Miller Lite – his favorite beer – for fans at four bars on Division Street from Friday through Sunday. The offer is good at Hopsmith Tavern, The Lodge Tavern, Butch McGuire's and She-nannigans.

While there COVID-19 restrictions may make it difficult to post up at a bar like usual, mentioning "Jon's tab" is set to get you a free drink.

The 36-year-old Lester noted in his tweet that he doesn't know what's to come this offseason. The Cubs are expected to decline his $25-million player option for 2021, which would trigger a $10-million buyout and make him a free agent. President of baseball operations Theo Epstein has left the door open for Lester to return depending on the circumstances, and Lester has expressed his desire to come back as well.

"I've definitely appreciated everything this organization has done for me," Lester said. "I hope it's not it. I hope we can figure something out for next year."

Lester has gone 77-44 with a 3.64 ERA in 171 starts over six seasons with the Cubs. He was co-MVP of the 2016 National League Championship Series, going 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA as Chicago earned its first pennant since 1945.
