PECOTA projects the Cubs to win 90.6 games in 2025
(670 The Score) One of the most prominent baseball projection models predicts a promising 2025 season for the Cubs.
Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA projections forecast the Cubs to win 90.6 games in the upcoming season, which makes them significant favorites to win the NL Central in the model. The rival Brewers, who won the division last season, are projected to finish in second place with 80.2 wins.
The projection comes on the heels of an important offseason for the Cubs in which they traded for star right fielder Kyle Tucker, signed left-hander Matthew Boyd and bolstered the bullpen by acquiring closer Ryan Pressly.
The Cubs are also still active in pursuing third baseman Alex Bregman in free agency and showing interest in Padres right-hander Dylan Cease on the trade market.
PECOTA projects the White Sox to 61.5 wins in 2025, which would represent a significant improvement from their historically bad 41-121 season in 2024.
The MLB season begins on March 18, when the Cubs take on the defending World Series champion Dodgers in Tokyo. Los Angeles is projected to win 103.8 games by PECOTA.
