(670 The Score) Right-hander Lance Lynn has signed a two-year, $38-million contract extension with the White Sox, the club announced Saturday afternoon.

The deal also includes an $18-million team option for the 2024 season. Under the contract, Lynn will make $18.5 million in both 2022 and 2023, and the deal includes a $1-million buyout as well.

Lynn, 34, is in the middle of an All-Star season in which he has gone 9-3 with a 1.99 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 16 starts in the first half. The White Sox acquired him in a trade with the Rangers last December, and his contract was previously set to expire after the 2021 season.

Lynn’s 1.99 ERA is the best in the American League entering play Saturday.

“We are thrilled to be able to keep Lance in a White Sox uniform for the next several seasons,” general manager Rick Hahn said in a statement. “He very quickly proved himself to be not only an All-Star caliber addition to the front of our rotation but also the positive clubhouse presence that we envisioned at the time of the acquisition. We look forward to Lance continuing to be a big part of what we’re hoping to accomplish not just in 2021 but now beyond.”

Lynn has a career 3.48 ERA in 11 MLB seasons.
