(670 The Score) White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. remains on the trade block, and it simply feels like a question of when he’ll be dealt, not if.
On that front, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported Sunday that the White Sox’s hope is to trade Robert by Memorial Day. Such a move would be rare, as high-profile names like Robert rarely are traded until July. It’s with that in mind that Jon Heyman of the MLB Network and New York Post believes it’s still in the White Sox’s best interest to keep the 27-year-old Robert deeper into the summer.
“I still don’t think he’s really at his value,” Heyman said while on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning.
“At this point, I don’t see them getting the haul that you would hope to get with this kind of talent. So I’m holding off. I don’t believe he’s getting traded by Memorial Day. Very few players do.”
Robert is hitting .195 with five homers, 15 RBIs and a .667 OPS in 32 games. He also has an MLB-best 15 steals. Robert is performing better in the past two weeks, as he’s 11-of-33 with three homers and nine RBIs in his past nine games. He has also drawn seven walks in that stretch.
