Ozzie Guillen believes Tim Anderson would benefit from a change of scenery

(670 The Score) In the aftermath of White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson recently expressing ambivalence about his future with the organization, NBC Sports Chicago analyst Ozzie Guillen believes Anderson would benefit from a change of scenery.

“To me, this kid has got to change his scenario for his own good,” Guillen said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Wednesday morning. “I think this kid needs to go to another ball club, and he doesn’t have to be the man.

“I think this guy has got a great future still in front of him, a great future still in front of him. I don’t know if the White Sox are going to spend the money with him because if you don’t win with him (in his prime), do you think you’re going to win with him later on? That’s the question.”

Guillen added it’s probably “best for everyone” involved if Anderson and the White Sox part ways.

“I feel kind of weird for him because I don’t think he’s having fun on the field,” Guillen said.

Anderson, 29, is struggling in 2023, hitting .259 with no homers, 10 RBIs and a .605 OPS in 47 games. During an appearance on The Pivot Podcast recently, he opened his about his personal struggles and addressed his future with the White Sox, who hold a $14-million team option on Anderson for 2024.

“I understand the business,” Anderson said on the podcast hosted by ESPN personality Ryan Clark. “If they want to keep me, then cool. If they don’t, then cool either way. Yeah, the (contract) numbers are different when it comes to shortstop. I think everybody knows. My time is coming. I’m going to be patient and just continuing to keep working.”
