White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease will be the team's starter on Opening Day next Thursday evening in Houston against the defending World Series champion Astros.
Cease, who finished second in the AL Cy Young voting last season, will be making his first career Opening Day start. Astros left-hander Framber Valdez will oppose the White Sox.
The 27-year-old Cease went 14-8 with a 2.20 ERA over 32 starts in 2022.
First pitch between the White Sox and Astros will be at 6:08 p.m. CT on Thursday at Minute Maid Ballpark.
