(RADIO.COM Sports) At the outset of the 2020 season, when the #LetRussCook movement was at its height, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk passed along an interest nugget, saying there were some in league circles who believed Russell Wilson eventually wouldn't be a Seahawk if they didn't use him in a way that was in line with how other all-time great quarterbacks are utilized.
Wilson followed with another monster season, tossing 40 touchdowns to 13 interceptions while racking up 4,212 passing yards. Heck, in his age-32 season, Wilson even ran for 513 yards, the most he had accumulated in three seasons. He won't ultimately receive his first NFL MVP vote in 2020, but for all intents and purposes, Russ cooked.
Still, after the Seahawks looked like the NFL's top offense for the first half of the season, the magic wore off to some degree as the weather got colder. In the first eight games of the season, the Seahawks averaged more than 34 points per contest. In the second half, Seattle regressed to averaging 23.1 points per game and scored more than 30 in just one single game. Perhaps the pace the Seahawks were on in the first half was unsustainable, but the stark contrast in the two halves took Seattle from being seen as a serious Super Bowl contender to being just another team in the postseason field.
And so, if the Seahawks were to lose the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday evening, you wonder what type of discussion we'll be having Monday morning. No, the Seahawks aren't going to trade Wilson this offseason, but you do wonder if they'll be forced into making some coaching and personnel decisions if they feel like the clock is ticking on their relationship with Wilson.
