(670 The Score) White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson is nearing a return as he recovers from a right groin strain that landed him on the injured list.

White Sox manager Rick Renteria expressed hope that Anderson could be ready for the White Sox's series against the Tigers, which starts Monday.

Anderson has been getting workouts in at the team's alternate camp in Schaumburg. He was off to a hot start, hitting .333 with a .922 OPS in seven games before getting hurt.

In other injury news, White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal is out of the lineup against the Indians on Friday evening as he deals with left foot irritation. Renteria expects that Grandal will be good to go Saturday.

Like Grandal, outfielder Nomar Mazara has a foot ailment that has him out of the lineup Friday, and Renteria was optimistic he could be back Saturday.

Designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion (shoulder) was out of the lineup Friday as well. Renteria indicated he could return to the lineup in a few days.
