In-season tournament, primetime matchups among Cavs' slate

The NBA has released its full list of regular-season schedules for the 2023-24 season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are set to open the new campaign on Wednesday, Oct. 25, against the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center, before returning for a three-game homestand beginning on Oct. 27.

Among the Cavs’ early home stretch opponents will be the Oklahoma City Thunder (Oct. 27), Indiana Pacers (Oct. 28), and the New York Knicks – who will face the Cavs in a Halloween rematch of last season’s first-round playoff matchup.

The Cavs’ schedule to round out the current calendar year features games with some of the NBA’s top teams and players, including home contests against the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets (Nov. 19) and Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat (Nov. 22).

Other notable 2023 matchups include the Steph Curry and Klay Thompson-led Golden State Warriors (Nov. 5), LeBron James’s Los Angeles Lakers (Nov. 25), Trae Young’s Atlanta Hawks (Dec. 16), Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans (Dec. 21), and the Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Milwaukee Bucks (Dec. 29) in Cleveland, along with road games against the Thunder (Nov. 8), Warriors (Nov. 11), Sacramento Kings (Nov. 13), Boston Celtics (Dec. 12 & 14), and the Luka Doncic-led Dallas Mavericks (Dec. 27).

The Cavs will also take part in the inaugural NBA in-season tournament, beginning on Friday, Nov. 3 against the Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Cleveland’s remaining Group Play games will be on Friday, Nov. 17 against the Detroit Pistons; Tuesday, Nov. 21 against the host Philadelphia 76ers; and Tuesday, Nov. 28 against the visiting Hawks. The winner of the Group Play stage will advance with seven other teams to the Knockout Round, beginning on Monday, Dec. 4, with the semifinals (Thursday, Dec. 7) and Championship (Saturday, Dec. 9) to be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

After the new year, Cleveland’s slate will include January matchups against reigning number one draft pick Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs (Jan. 7), as well as other home games against the Nets (Jan. 11), Chicago Bulls (Jan. 15), Bucks (Jan. 17), and Los Angeles Clippers (Jan. 29).
