The Gang Gets Trolled.
The New York Giants have not had much to celebrate this season, but Big Blue picked up a victory against their NFC East rivals on Sunday, beating the Philadelphia Eagles 13-7 and having a little fun at their expense.
After Jalen Hurts’ final attempt to score in the waning seconds fell incomplete, the Giants celebrated their victory while the Eagles headed to the locker room with a missed opportunity to gain ground on the NFC East-leading Cowboys.
At this time, the person operating the MetLife Stadium loudspeakers decided to play the theme song from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” just to twist the knife a little more.
The song could be heard during a FOX postgame interview with Saquon Barkley.
It is not that the Giants necessarily outplayed the Eagles, but rather made fewer mistakes.
Daniel Jones threw for 202 yards and a touchdown while Jones and Saquon Barkley combined for 70 yards on the ground. But the Giants did not turn the ball over at all during the game.
Hurts threw three interceptions while running back Boston Scott lost a fumble inside two minutes. The Eagles would get the ball back, but the turnover proved costly as it impacted field position and gave Philadelphia less time to get down field and into the end zone.
The win marks the second straight victory for the Giants over the Eagles after Philadelphia had won the previous eight matchups between the two teams.
While the rivalry has been mostly one-sided in recent years, the Always Sunny theme was a nice touch to show there is still no love lost between these two teams.
