Memphis Grizzlies legendary center Marc Gasol has retired from basketball, as first presented on social media in a post in Spanish that translates to "now what?"
Marc Gasol won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year for 2012-13 leading to the "Grit and Grind" Era of basketball that transformed Memphis as a city as FedExForum became the "Grindhouse".
Gasol made the NBA All-Star teams with the Grizzlies in 2012, 2015 and 2017. Given the franchise changes in 2019-20 Gasol was traded to the Raptor where he won his only NBA championship four months later with Toronto.
With a story that started at Lausanne Collegiate School in East Memphis while Marc's brother Pau starred for the Grizzlies, Marc end up playing 769 games in Memphis blue for the team.
