DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Could the Dallas Cowboys be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks for the third time this upcoming season?

According to league rules, the Cowboys are among the five teams who are eligible to be chosen for this year's show. The other four are the Panthers, Cardinals, Broncos and Giants.

Teams are able to avoid the punishment if they fall under these three categories.

1. They have a first-year head coach
2. They have made the playoffs in the past two seasons
3. They appeared on Hard Knocks in the past 10 years.

The Cowboys, as you can figure out, do not fall under any of these three categories, thus, they are eligible to be selected.

Dallas was featured on the 2002 and 2008 seasons of HBO's hit show that takes a behind-the-scenes look at one of the NFL's 32 teams during training camp.

The current Cowboys team would provide lots of storylines for the show - from Dak Prescott's contract situation, to the fascination of what Jerry Jones might say next, Mike McCarthy looking to right the ship, etc.

Shan and RJ discussed the possibility on Thursday's show. Listen to the audio below.
