Daren Bates, former Rams/Titans Lineback & Auburn star from Olive Branch High, was on the Jason & John Show and thinks he'll be on an NFL roster by Week #1 of the regular NFL Season. That became closer to reality, Bates said, because he now has received the coronavirus vaccine.
Wednesday (8/11/21) Bates told J&J his story of going from being told not to come for a scheduled workout after that team found out he wasn't vaccinated, to getting six NFL calls after receiving his Covid shot.
"Just a couple of weeks ago I had a (scheduled) workout." Bates add, "I was basically going to be 'on the team'. At the time I wasn't vaccinated. The team cancelled my workout, so I went and made sure I was vaccinated."
Bates said getting the vaccination has changed his options for 2021-22. "The next day after notifying teams (of vaccination) I had six teams contact."
Bates described why the teams have made this a priority. "They are looking out for themselves and the players."
