
#12 Tigers Earn Sixth Consecutive Win with 2-1 Victory Over SMU
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 12th ranked Memphis Tiger women’s soccer team collected its sixth consecutive win tonight after the 2-1 victory over SMU.
Memphis moves to 9-1 for the season and 3-0 in AAC play.

KEY MOMENTS
The Tigers came out hot in the first half, getting back-to-back goals from Mya Jones in the 11’ and 14’ for the early 2-0 lead.Memphis would dominate on the offensive end, firing off 10 shots in the opening 45 minutes with shots on-goal coming from Jones and Saorla Miller.On the defensive end, Kaylie Bierman would make a monster save in the 8’ to keep the Mustangs off the board. Memphis would take their 2-0 lead into halftime.Bierman continued to stand her ground between the pipes, making consecutive saves in the 52’, 53’ and again in the 67’ of play.SMU would cut their deficit to one after Mayu Inokawa found the back of the net off a penalty kick in the 65’.With the clock winding down, Memphis would control the pace of the game, keeping the Mustangs back on their defensive third and claim the 2-1 victory.
