The Memphis Tigers, Penny Hardaway, and Penny's coaching staff have been working overtime to assemble their roster for the 2023-24 basketball season. Not only does that include the recent news that Memphis Tigers star DeAndre Williams is exploring an additional year of eligibility at Memphis, but the transfer portal has been under heavy evaluation.

On Monday (6/5/23) Memphis landed David Jones from St. John's University. Jones averaged 14.5 points per game in 2021-22 and 13.2 last season (2022-23).
According to the Daily Memphian Jones will likely be eligible immediately for the Memphis Tigers.
While the 3-point shooting percentages aren't amazing (29% the last two years at St. Johns) Jones' ability to score and rebound (7.4, 6.8 RPG) makes him a very solid addition to the Memphis roster. Jones was also a target of Arizona and Kentucky.
