Damaria Franklin has been ruled eligible by the NCAA according to reports, including the initial tweet from Penny Hardaway's friend Doc Holliday from Action News 5 WMC-TV:
Luke Yaklich and University of Illinois Chicago Athletic Director Michael Lipitz (UIC Flames program) failed to sign a transfer waiver for Franklin. The University of Memphis applied for an exception that was indeed granted.
Meanwhile, Memphis received more good news on the heels of the Tigers win over Auburn this weekend that the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Week is star guard Kendrick Davis.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis’ senior point guard Kendric Davis was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week Monday for his performances last week on the hardwood.
It marks his second AAC weekly honor in three weeks as a Tiger and the seventh of his career.
The fifth-year point guard averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in wins over Little Rock and No. 11 Auburn.
He made 12 field goals over the two games and went a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line, while swiping four steals.
Davis had his biggest game of the season on the brightest stage, going for a season-high 27 points on 9-of-19 shooting with a career high-tying nine rebounds and six assists in leading the Tigers to an 82-72 win over No. 11 Auburn Saturday in Atlanta.
Memphis is back in action Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Tuscaloosa to battle No. 8 Alabama on ESPN2. They will then return home to face Texas A&M at 6 p.m. in a Blue Out at FedExForum on Dec. 17.
