MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis senior quarterback Seth Henigan was named to The Maxwell Award watch list, the Maxwell Club announced Monday morning. The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.

In 2023, Henigan helped lead the Tigers to a 10-3 record and a victory over Iowa State in the 2023 AutoZone Liberty Bowl. The 21-year-old is entering his fourth season at the helm of the Tiger offense, making him the only fourth-year starting quarterback in FBS to spend all four seasons at one institution.
The senior quarterback had his best season yet in 2023, passing for 3,883 yards and 32 touchdowns to just nine interceptions while rushing for another five scores and setting the single-season completions (318) record for the Tigers.
Henigan is the Memphis-career leader entering 2024 in completions (839) and passing yards (10,776) while his 79 touchdowns are just a dozen shy of Brady White’s career record. The senior has logged 18-career 300-yard passing games and five 400-yard efforts over his career – both good for program records. If Henigan throws for his career average in passing touchdowns (26) in 2024, he would enter the NCAA's top-25 all-time in that stat and would become just the second QB since 2013 to post four-straight seasons with at least 25 total touchdowns.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced November 12, 2024, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled November 26, 2024. The winners of the 88th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 12, 2024. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Friday March 14, 2024 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
