The Memphis Tigers fell 89–78 at Florida Atlantic in an American Conference matchup on Sunday. Memphis stayed competitive early, trailing just 36–34 at the first break, but the Owls pulled away in the second half behind balanced scoring and strong execution on both ends.
Kanaan Carlyle led FAU with 17 points and key contributions throughout the roster helped Florida Atlantic build and maintain control. Despite a 21-point performance from Memphis junior Aaron Bradshaw, the Tigers couldn’t overcome defensive lapses and were outrebounded 46–29, allowing too many second-chance opportunities.
Memphis shot a respectable 45% from the field, but struggled from deep and at the free-throw line in stretches, letting FAU extend its advantage. The loss drops the Tigers to 7–8 on the season and marks their first American Conference defeat of the year.
Memphis returns home next to host Temple on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
