Rooker, who played his high school ball at ECS in Memphis and starred collegiately at Mississippi State, secured a five-year, $60 million contract extension, including a $10 million signing bonus.
The deal, which runs through the 2029 season with a club option for 2030, could escalate to $92 million over six years if performance incentives are met.
Rooker, 30, joined the A's in 2023 and quickly became a key offensive contributor. In 2024, he posted a .293 batting average with 39 home runs and 112 RBIs, earning the franchise's first Silver Slugger Award since 2002. This extension reflects the Athletics' commitment to retaining top talent as they prepare for their move to Las Vegas.
