ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Cardinals phenom Dylan Carlson visited with some students at Hickey Elementary School in north St. Louis and handed out more than 250 new coats on Monday.

The rookie outfielder partnered with UnitedHealthcare, who gave a $15,000 grant to the Dreambuilders Foundation to fund the purchase of the new coats.
Carlson says he felt fortunate to be able to hang out with these kids.
"This community and this city has already shown me so much support in my short time here that I feel it's the right thing to do," Carlson says. "It really means a lot to me and these kids, they deserve this."

Carlson, who just turned 23 last month, was named a finalist for the Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award in the National League this year. The winner will announced Monday night.
He slashed .266/.343/.437 with 18 homers this season, is also seen as an underdog to be named Rookie of the Year. He would be just the sixth winner of the award in Cardinals history, joining Albert Pujols (2001), Wally Moon (1954), Bill Virdon (1955), Bake McBride (1974), Vince Coleman (1985) and Todd Worrell (1986).
He also had a 117 OPS+ with 31 doubles and four triples.
