Atlanta Falcons safety Ricardo Allen made some thought provoking comments over the weekend that we, as fans, may not have been aware of.
The NFL announced they have a plan in place for reopening team facilities and expect to have protocols in place by May 15. The league also released the 2020 schedule last week indicating that the season will continue as planned.
However, Allen is unsure if he's ready to come back.
That's one question that hasn't really been asked throughout this process of sports returning.
"That word right there, 'human being,' is very often left out or forgotten about when we're talking about professional athletes," Andy Bunker said. "We talk about these guys sometimes as if they're like just there for your entertainment."
We're all ready for sports to be back, as media and fans, but have we asked the players if they're ready to return yet? Are they comfortable enough with the coronavirus pandemic to come back to sports.
"When we look at it as fans of a sport or fans of anything, we want what we want," Randy McMichael said. "But we don't take into consideration sometimes the people that are actually putting on the performances because we're so starved for it."
