Jason Longshore joined Dukes & Bell on Monday to talk about Atlanta United’s disappointing MLS opener in D.C. where they lost 2-nil, and if we should be worried.
Jason said he was a little shocked that United played everyone.
“You’re in the stage of the season that you’re not going to play these guys unless you’re comfortable in their fitness level,” said Longshore.
When asked if he was surprised with the way United struggled to get shots on goal.
“I had them with two shots on goal," said Longshore. "You want to control possession and you controlled 56 percent of it last night. But you have to create more chances, their outside backs were smart and kept our outside guys to get passes inside.”
Jason talked about whether some of the starters should have played the entire game.
“There’s no perfect answer to this," said the Atlanta United color analyst. "If you go back and look to see examples of this, every player doesn’t play every match. Maybe Julian Gressel didn’t have 90 minutes in him. Maybe Pity Martinez didn’t have 90 minutes in here. It looked planned that they came in together.”
