“I was thinking the same thing,” Murphy said. “Last week I thought it was a tough choice, but I went with Acuña. Since last week he’s hit, what five home runs, threw a guy out at home plate. We’re going to have the MVP and we’re going to see Brian Snitker get another Manager of the Year award. I don’t know the superlatives to use for Acuña. He’s the catalyst of the team, and pitchers who have to face Acuña right off the bat should just stay in the bullpen for five more minutes.”
When asked about how much fun this team seems to have.
“These guys are in the midst of a pennant race and they can’t change,” Murphy said. “They need to keep having fun because that’s who they are. I love watching the highlights if I miss a game, and I love watching them play. This is a really unique team, and I hope everyone enjoys watching this as much as I do.”
