When the Braves signed Felix Hernandez to a minor-league deal for $1 Million, many around Major League Baseball wondered what Alex Anthopoulos was thinking.
The former AL Cy Young Award winner was coming off a season where he had a 6.40 ERA in 15 starts and a fastball that was only averaging 90mph.
"You can make an argument that Felix Hernandez is your #3 starter to go into the season," says John Fricke excitedly. "I can't believe I'm sitting here saying this, when they signed Felix Hernandez I said why are they wasting a million dollars, Felix Hernandez can't pitch no more. Three weeks ago I was saying if I got one out from Hernandez in the regular season that would be one out more than I expected when they signed him. Now it looks like he's going to be in the rotation to start the season. Wow!"
