Governor Brian Kemp said high school football is "as Georgian and American as you get," in a conversation about prep sports returning to the state of Georgia this fall.
Kemp joined Dukes & Bell on Tuesday to talk about the return of high school football, and the notion of professional and college sports resuming in Georgia.
“If we have ample testing, contact tracing, and if people continue to use these good practices, we may not have a second wave," Governor Kemp said. "If we don’t do that (have a second wave), we could start looking at ways to put some people in the stands and playing some live sporting events.”
Kemp said he's still being "cautiously optimistic" and doesn't want to give people false hope, but feels Georgians have to have a goal like high school football in the fall to completely understand how to deal with this pandemic.
