“Should there be more netting, from foul pole to foul pole?” Dukes asked. “As a player you shouldn’t have to worry about hitting a foul ball and killing someone. I think it’s time for them to change this and add more netting. The danger is real, the problem is it happens so few times no one thinks it’s a big deal. When you see little girls and little boys being taken to the hospital (after being hit by) a foul ball, if you’re Major League Baseball you don’t want to see that and it’s time to step in and do something.”
Mike said he doesn’t want anything in front of him at a game.
“I grew up not having a net,” Bell said. “No one wants to see a child hurt, but I also think there is some personal accountability. If you’re sitting on the third base line your child should sit on the left of you to protect your kid. I like to enjoy a sporting event with nothing between me and the playing field, if you’re going to sit in certain areas you need to pay attention. But everyone has their head in the clouds now and I think we’re going to see more of this.”
