Cowboys insider Mike Fisher joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the situation going on in Dallas with Jason Garrett, and could a prominent college football coach be heading to the NFL?
Mike said it’s a good assumption to think the Cowboys are going to move on from Garrett.
“It is an excellent assumption things will move forward, they will, it’s going to happen.” Fisher said “Then we start looking at what I believe should be a wide, deep search and what probably already has been in terms of behind closed doors, calling agents and getting a feel and that kind of thing.”
Fisher talked about who he thinks is the favorite to be the next Cowboys head coach.
“My feeling right now is, it sure is weird with all the assistant coaches doing their interviews, college coaches doing their interviews Matt Rhule most prominently why hasn’t Lincoln Riley made a peep?” Fisher said “Lincoln Riley hasn’t made a peep about going, about staying, he hasn’t lined up an interview with the Browns, nothing, why? The only thing that’s come out of OU, and you guys probably know the kid, the number one rated quarterback in the country prospect going from high school to college, Vandagriff, he said a month ago to Sports Illustrated I’m going to OU, I’m going with Coach Riley, the only way I’m not going to OU is if Coach Riley leaves and then I’m either going to Georgia or Florida he said that a month ago and then this week he de-commits from OU. You don’t have to be a genius to put together those puzzle pieces.”
