“Josh Bell is a 7-2 favorite to win the Home Run Derby, Vladimir Guerrero is at 9-2 with Joc Pederson and Pete Alonso at 5-1,” Bell said. “Then we have Ronald Acuña at 10-1, the reigning Rookie of the Year. I want to see 15 or 20 then get out of here because there have been some guys who struggle in the second half.”
Carl said he wants Acuña to do well, but does believe it the derby negatively affects contestants in second half.
“We want Acuña to do well,” Dukes said. “This is the stuff that helps bring your club more national attention. There are still people in the country who don’t know about our guys. But he’s got good odds though. There’s just something weird about what happens in the derby, because you’re over-swinging and it’s something that affects you afterwards.”
