The No. 2 running back position has been a wide open competition over the course of training camp and preseason for the Atlanta Falcons.
Devonta Freeman, who's coming back from groin and knee injuries, is expected to carry the majority of the load this season.
However, Ito Smith has not so quietly made his case in the to be that guy behind Freeman with his performances in the team's four preseason games.
Smith had five carries for 23-yards and a touchdown in the Falcons dress rehearsal game against the Washington Redskins on Thursday night.

August 23, 2019 Has Smith solidified himself as the No. 2 back?
"I don't know what he would have to do at this point unless he just practices terribly in the next week or two to (not) get it," Jon Chuckery said. "I would guess that Ito will be listed right behind Devonta on the depth chart."
