Why the wait on Donaldson?

With the Minnesota Twins seemingly out, and the Washington Nationals reportedly moving on, what is taking the Braves so long to re-sign Josh Donaldson? Jon Chuckery is tired of the Braves acting like the Kansas City Royals and wishes they would act more like the New York Yankees.
